Rev. Brian Stevens, BA Mus, MDiv
Minister
Rev. Brian Stevens has been serving the Hope United Congregation since 2014. He joined us first on a part time basis, preaching every second week, then was appointed as our Student Supply Minister in January of 2016. He was ordained into the Pulpit at Hope in October of 2020.
As well as Sunday worship, Brian also leads the Fresh Expression Project at Hope United and takes an active lead in the ongoing restoration and updating of our building.
Brian is an accomplished musician, a composer and playwright with 20 musical plays for children to his credit. Prior to his appointment at Hope, he spent many years working within the United Church as a music director and youth leader.
He speaks often of “personal lived action” as our means by which we illuminate the path of Christ; the path to which we are called as Christians.
MEGAN STONE
CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR
Megan is deeply rooted in and passionate about East End Toronto and its community spirit. She’s outgoing, a people person and is enthusiastically community-minded.
She has extensive work experience in office management and administration, and is quite familiar with juggling many spinning plates. She happily goes the extra mile in order to advance the mission and vision of Hope United.
Megan has worked on many successful fundraising projects, both for food banks and around conquering Covid-19. She was known by the community as the “Egg Carton Lady” after initiating a project to collect egg cartons to distribute to local food banks so that their clients could transport eggs home.
Megan has an adult daughter, Jessie, who is a talented artist.
She is also passionate about animals, having fostered 65+ orphan animals voluntarily in her home, including providing palliative care. Currently, she does pet sitting with pet clients who are very much considered a part of her family.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, volunteering, live bands/music, dancing, hosting events, baking, spending time with friends and travelling.
Megan believes that churches should be examples of integrity in their communities and to the world.
